Dew Drop Inn Jazz Band
The Dew Drop Inn Jazz Band with Faye Reis performs at The Silver Dollar each Tuesday beginning 7:30 p.m. They not only have a large following, but they can pack a dance floor as well. The dancing spilled out from the banquet room to the main bar area. The audience follows this band to The Silver Dollar each Tuesday and, as is witnessed by watching Faye Reis work the friendly crowd welcoming each and every one - all enjoy and look forward to this evening out.
The band has many, many years of experience and have played with great names as: Roy Akers, Tex Williams, Hank Thompson, Ray Charles just to name a very few.
They have performed for Office Representatives : Governors Dukemejian and Pete Wilson, Senator Chuck Poochigian and Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
This exquisite band has 7 members. Faye, the Vocalist; Keyboardist, Drummer, Trumpeteer/Bass Guitarist; 2 Saxophone players, a n Electric Guitarist/Fiddler/Banjo player, and 2 Clarinet players. One of the saxophone players was none other than The Silver Dollar’s owner, Truman Campbell. Very fine saxophone player at that.
The band has been together since 1980. All have had vast experience in their field. Sandy Coker, drummer, has expertise in a lost art of “Brushin” drums. It was awe-inspiring to watch this man play the drums with these “brushes”.
Faye has worked with jazz greats: Lou Rawls, Saharh Vaughan, Della Reese, Joe Pass, Bobbie Troup, Ray Brown and Barney Kessel, to name a few. Faye identifies herself as a jazz singer, but record companies and management have always tried to make her somewhat commerical. With the help and direction of Vince DiCiccio, Faye has put her true jazz feel into this material. She says her style is a soft jazz - straight ahead jazz as they say in the business.
